Bocelli’s

These wines were named after my vineyard manager’s dog, Bo, who is named after the blind Italian singer Andre’ Bocelli. Bo is always with us in the vineyard near Crete, when we are pruning or picking. He keeps all varmints at bay & loves to chew on the cordons (the branches we prune). This dry white wine is made from the versatile Frontenac Gris grape. It is made white by removing the juice from the skins right away. This wine is good with fish or a creamy pasta dish. Also makes a great Sangria or cider wine. Each year gets better. The 2009 is best with BBQ chicken or any fish.

Happy Toad

You might see a family of toads around the porch if you look closely in the summer. This wine, also made from the Frontenac Gris grape is a smooth full bodied dry white, similar to a Chardonnay. Great with seafood or chicken.

Cottontail

This wine was named for all the rabbits we have on winery grounds. Made from the Frontenac Gris grape, this one is a sweeter wine. Best served chilled as a dessert wine or with a light summer meal.

HR Blush

This wine is named after the owner of Homestead Vineyard near Crete, because he ‘blushes’ very easily. Similar to a White Zinfindale, this wine has a citrus and grapefruit aroma and flavors. The 2010 was chosen to be paired with the salad at the Wine Conference in Kearney.

Capitol View Red

These were named because you can see the capitol building in Lincoln from our porch. You have a beautiful view of the Lincoln skyline and surrounding fields all year round.

The 2010 Capitol View Red is a semi sweet served chilled, made by blending Frontenac and DeChaunac grapes. 2011 will be ready soon.

Capitol View White

These were named because you can see the capitol building in Lincoln from our porch. You have a beautiful view of the Lincoln skyline & surrounding fields all year round. One of the whites is similar to a Riesling, with a peach and vanilla bouquet ; made by blending La Crosse & Prairie Star grapes.

The 2009 has pear and apple flavors. The 2010 is just being released this year.

Clare’s Wine

Clare’s Wine is a dry red that gets better every year. Clare Wunderlich, my husband, was the force behind the winery. We have a wine each year honoring his dream.

2008 Was a blend of Frontenac and St Croix, 2009 had a great bouquet of raspberry, licorice & cedar, 2010 is a blend of Marquette and St Croix with a dried cherry and cedar aroma. The 2011 Clare’s Wine is coming out soon and is a tri-blend.
